The BTHA, set up in 1944 to represent the interests of toy manufacturers, is celebrating its 80th anniversary and has produced a short celebratory video. Toy manufacturers came together to reach an agreed procedure for restarting manufacturing at the end of World War Two. The BTHA was the result and it has been the industry voice communicating with British governments ever since.

The range of BTHA services has grown substantially and includes guidance documents, tools, training seminars and webinars. Toy company compliance with the swathes of legislation that toy companies are required to meet is another important aspect.

“I would like to pay tribute to members and the team at HQ and beyond – both past and present — for their active, positive and amazing work towards the Association’s ongoing development”

BTHA director general, Roland Earl

The Association is also responsible for the launch and organisation of events such as Toy Fair (started in 1954) the Toy Industry Day, Toy Trust charity fundraising and more.

BTHA director general, Roland Earl, said: “I would like to pay tribute to members and the team at HQ and beyond – both past and present — for their active, positive and amazing work towards the Association’s ongoing development. At the BTHA we are in a very privileged position to represent such creative, inspiring, responsible and fun companies, all of which bring joy to the lives of kids of all ages.”
