Cobi founder honoured by European Congress of SMEs

Robert Podleś, who founded the company in 1987, was named a winner of the Economic Award of the European Congress of SMEs

The founder of Cobi UK’s parent company has been named a winner of the Economic Award of the European Congress of SMEs.

Robert Podleś, founder and president of the Cobi Capital Group, began the company in 1987. His family business quickly rose to prominence and, just three years later, the game Komandosi won Razem magazine’s Game of the Year award and was the first toy advertised on Polish television.

“This is a reward for all my employees. The entire process – from design to production – takes place in Poland. We, as entrepreneurs, should do everything we can to put pressure on politicians and make it possible to maintain production in Europe”

In collecting his award, Robert said: “This is a reward for all my employees. The entire process – from design to production – takes place in Poland. We, as entrepreneurs, should do everything we can to put pressure on politicians and make it possible to maintain production in Europe.”

Nearly 40 years since its founding, Cobi is today recognised globally for creating some of the most unique and detailed scaled brick models, with historical accuracy and design at their core. With its own plant in Mielec, Poland, it has expanded through an established global sales network covering nearly 50 countries.

Lee Crocker, Country Manager UK and Ireland for Cobi UK, shared congratulations for Robert’s award and looks forward to showcasing the company’s latest innovations in early 2026.
