For 85 years, The Toy Box has been a colourful constant in the heart of Beccles. After serving the store for more than 25 years, manager Dan Lovett reflects on its evolution from a pre-internet institution to a modern retail hub for generations of local families.
As the business has evolved, so has its buying relationships, he says. In the early years, the store was a member of the Youngsters buying group. But after it closed, The Toy Box joined Toymaster – a shift that proved transformative.
“Our move to Toymaster has been very beneficial over the years – with branding of the shop, window kits, carrier bags, vouchers, and obviously the TIMS [Toymaster Information Management System] central invoicing, plus being able to share information and stock with other members,” Dan says.
