Judith Dayus’ 15,000 steps a day for MND

Toy industry veteran Judith is tackling a deeply personal challenge to raise awareness and funds for Motor Neurone Disease

This August, Judith Dayus is taking on an incredible challenge: walking 15,000 steps every single day to raise vital funds for the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association.

Her mission is not only to push herself physically but also to shine a spotlight on MND – a cruel and devastating disease that robs people of the ability to move, speak, and eventually breathe.

This is a deeply personal challenge for Judith: “My brother-in-law, Jonathan, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease about a year ago,” she says. “The more I learn, the more I realise how urgently this charity needs funding to continue its vital research and care. Around 5,000 people in the UK are living with MND right now – every step I take is for them.”

Despite the MND Association’s tireless work supporting families and funding research, there is still no cure. More funding is desperately needed to drive breakthroughs in treatment and, ultimately, to find a cure.

Judith’s journey has been as rewarding as it is demanding: “The first week or so was absolutely fine, but three weeks in I have to admit I’m pretty tired and weary! That said, I feel fitter, stronger, and even a few pounds lighter. My three black labradors have been my faithful companions, joining me every morning on beautiful walks by the lake. We’ve seen stunning views – even deer pausing to watch us pass. I’m loving it, and knowing I’m doing it for such an important cause keeps me going.”

By sponsoring Judith, you’re not just supporting her challenge – you’re helping to fund crucial research, provide practical support, and give hope to those affected by MND.

Every single donation makes a difference: Just £12 could provide an information pack for someone newly diagnosed with MND, and £20 could buy an LCD writing tablet, helping someone continue to communicate with loved ones.

“Every step counts,” says Judith. “And with your support, we can take steps together towards a future free from MND.”
