Remembering Madeleine Potter

Craft Buddy

Madeleine Potter, who helped organise Distoy alongside her husband David Potter, has passed away

Toys n Playthings is very sad to report on the passing of Madeleine Potter, a key part of the Distoy organising team, and beloved wife of the event’s owner David Potter.

David has shared his thoughts and memories:

Bigjigs

“Madeleine passed away peacefully as she slept in the early hours of Thursday morning, 21 May. Her entire family remains totally devastated and continue to struggle to come to terms with the reality of it.

“The Distoy show grew so fast since its inception in the early 2000s that the entire Potter family quickly became involved. Madeleine became the ‘engine room’ that kept us all on track. Her daughter, Emma, son Steven and grandchildren Wenona and Ivan worked with her – helping the show to go on.

“Her name became so well-known in the international toy community and, even though Distoy has ceased to operate, she will be missed by so many with whom she struck up a very warm and friendly relationship.

“Farewell Madeleine, may you rest in peace.”
