As everybody knows, the new Superman film starring David Corenswet will be released in a week’s time on 11 July. Interestingly, if not coincidentally, exactly one month later, on 11 August, the original Superman Costume from 1978 worn by Christopher Reeve will be auctioned at Bruun Rasmussen in Denmark.
The costume was used in the film’s spectacular flying sequences and consists of the iconic red cape, blue top and trousers, yellow belt, and red leather boots. The image of Christopher Reeve soaring through the air in the outfit has become synonymous with Superman for millions of fans around the world.
With an estimated value of a million Danish kroner (£115,000) the costume stands as a testament to its iconic status and historical significance – a rare collectors’ item that bridges cultural heritage and cinematic history. It is sure to capture the attention of collectors, culture enthusiasts, film lovers around the world – and not least, devoted fans of the Superman universe.
In the meantime, with the new film just 7 days away, Rubies Masquerade’s wonderful Superman costumes – costing rather less than £115k – are already available. As are great new toys from many suppliers.
