“Whether you’re a gift-giver in need of some inspiration, or you’re simply looking for a helping hand when it comes to choosing the perfect present, the list provides a brilliant reference point for shoppers ahead of the festive season,” said Paul Reader, Chairman of the DreamToys Selection Panel at the Toy Retailers Association.
“After an incredible year for the toy industry, it’s reassuring to see families are back to supporting in-store shopping. It’s not surprising, given we only stock high-quality, safe toys and we all have experts on hand to help pick the perfect gift, but it is really great to see the support for both local, independent toy stores and larger chains at a crucial time of year.”
The DreamToys list follows encouraging new data for the trade from Circana, showing a six per cent growth for the toy industry, the biggest uptick since 2020.
Melissa Symonds, Executive Director of UK Toys at Circana, said: “With the toy market experiencing growth this year, after five years of a soft market, it’s a positive picture for both toy manufacturers and retailers as we head towards the crucial golden quarter.
Circana’s data revealed that licensed toys account for £1 in every £3 spent on toys, reflected in the number of licensed lines that made this year’s DreamToys list. Among them, Just Play’s Disney Stitch Ultimate Stitch Interactive Feature Plush.
Amy Saunders, UK Country Manager, Just Play, told TnP: “We’re proud and privileged to be among the number in the DreamToys list, it truly is an honour. And in just four years, for Just Play to be one of the hottest toys for Christmas is a testament to the team’s hard work and dedication.”
Tilly Jones, Senior Brand Manager at Spin Master, said: “The whole team is buzzing to have not one, but two products in the list this year: our Jurassic World Primal Hatch T.Rex, and Monster Jam Smash & Bash Grave Digger RC. DreamToys is such a great opportunity to celebrate the industry; its my favourite event of the year, every year.”
Maddi Tiscoe, Head of Marketing for Click, said the brand’s Dress To Impress Mystery Model Dolls being included on the list was a real achievement. “Being part of the DreamToys list is just another incredible stamp of approval. This line has been doing incredible: it’s current, it speaks to what kids want and how they are choosing to spend their time, and it represents repeat play value, which is so important.”
