The travel version of the iconic strategy game will launch this April in partnership with Catan GmbH and Catan Studio
Asmodee has announced Catan On the Road, a fast, travel-ready card game adaptation of the iconic multiplayer strategy game, in collaboration with Catan GmbH and Catan Studio.
Designed for modern, on-the-go play, Catan On the Road delivers the core Catan experience in a compact card format that’s easy to learn, quick to play, and perfect for three to four players when travelling. It launches at retail on 3 April.
“On the Road gives players, a great Catan experience in a fast, fresh format,” said Benjamin and Guido Teuber, Co-CEOs of Catan GmbH. “Playing exclusively using cards makes On the Road easy to bring along wherever you go, and we hope it becomes a welcoming gateway into the wider Catan world for new players.”
The game was designed by Benjamin Teuber, Co-CEO of Catan GmbH, who added: “We were looking for a fun way to experience the joy of Catan in an easy-to-learn, fast-to-play card game that still includes all the essential elements of harvesting, trading, and building. I especially enjoy the new approach to trading; it turns a classic Catan mechanic into a whole new experience.”

First published in 1995, Catan has become a global cultural phenomenon, selling more than 45 million units worldwide across over 100 markets.
The board game is also being adapted into live-action and animated films, series and unscripted formats in a deal with Netflix.
