Destination The Repair Shop, based on the much-loved BBC TV programme, wins Gold in the Licensed category
Rachel Lowe has won Gold at the 2026 Independent Toy Awards for her Destination The Repair Shop board game, based on the much-loved BBC TV programme The Repair Shop.
The family board game took Gold in the Licensed category, marking another milestone for Rachel, who first came to national attention when she appeared on the first series of BBC’s Dragons’ Den in 2005 with her original Destination board game.
More than 20 years later, she continues to develop the Destination brand, creating games based around destinations, entertainment properties and some of Britain’s best-loved television programmes.
Destination The Repair Shop was created in partnership with TVADSWORK, which worked alongside Rachel to bring the project from initial concept through to the finished product. Based on the BBC TV programme, the game captures the warmth, nostalgia and storytelling that have made The Repair Shop so popular with viewers.
Players become Guardians of Heirlooms, travelling around the board in their own Repair Shop van, collecting treasured items and returning them to the famous barn to earn Repair Shop Stars.Along the way, players must negotiate traffic lights, manage their fuel and overcome unexpected obstacles as they race to return the precious heirlooms to the barn.
“Winning Gold for Destination The Repair Shop is incredibly special, particularly because the Independent Toy Awards are voted for by independent toy retailers,” said Rachel.
“I created the first Destination game more than 20 years ago, so to see the brand continuing to evolve and being recognised in this way means a great deal to me.
“The Repair Shop is such a warm and much-loved programme, and from the beginning I wanted the game to capture that same feeling of nostalgia, storytelling and the importance we place on treasured possessions.
“I’m incredibly proud of what we created and very grateful to TVADSWORK and everyone who helped bring the project to life.”

Rachel continues to develop new games and puzzles through Rachel Lowe Games & Puzzles and is currently working on a special Destination Portsmouth100 edition to celebrate Portsmouth’s centenary year. The new edition will take players on a journey through the city’s history, featuring 100 destinations spanning a century of Portsmouth from 1926 to 2026.
