Ahead of tomorrow’s grand opening, organisers share celebration plans with TnP and reflect on the fair’s extraordinary history
Doors open tomorrow on the 75th Spielwarenmesse, which takes place 27-31 January in Nuremberg.
As exhibitors and visitors await the grand opening, TnP heard from Christian Ulrich, Member of the Executive Board at Spielwarenmesse eG, to reflect on the show’s incredible history, how it has shifted to reflect the industry over the decades, and what trends to look out for in 2026.
“During the event itself, the anniversary exhibition Walk of Play: Celebrating the 75th Spielwarenmesse in front of the Entrance Mitte will impressively bring the history of the industry leading event to life,” says Christian. “In addition, across the exhibition grounds, numerous exhibitors will be joining in the celebrations with their own creative activities, from interactive play points and musical performances to creative photo spots.
“One highlight is the RedNight on the Thursday evening, which will be opened with a spectacular firework display. The festivities will also extend into ToyCity Nuremberg, where we will illuminate key locations in the city centre in anniversary red.”
