And you can watch it right here. The first, teaser, trailer did not exactly light the Minecraft fires of creative delight that the original game did. As one informed review of the game said: “Much as the molten core of its world swills deep below its grassy topsoil, so Minecraft the game is buried somewhere deep beneath the crust of Minecraft the phenomenon. This is no great surprise.”
That original phenomenon was an independent web-game written in an outmoded language, even in 2011, and drawn with rudimentary blocks and 16-bit colours. And talking of blocks, the film looks like it understands and adheres to the original concept.
