A special video campaign will be shared across social media today promoting the importance of play and the free Make Time 2 Play app
Today, in celebration of the UN International Day of Play, the BTHA is reaching out to families on social media through a wide-reaching campaign to highlight the importance of play for children’s health, well-being and development.
The video, which will be shared widely by BTHA members, businesses and other organisations across the toy and play industries, highlights the association’s Make Time 2 Play campaign and app, which hosts hundreds of play ideas. Established more than 15 years ago, Make Time 2 Play provides families with activities for kids, research into the benefits of play, and more.
The BTHA is encouraging everyone across the toy industry to engage in today’s campaign and share the video to reach more families across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. It is using the hashtags #MakeTime2Play and #InternationalDayOfPlay.
Speaking at a BTHA event at Parliament on Monday to encourage law makers to close loopholes allowing the sale of unsafe, counterfeit toys, Roland Earl, Director General, BTHA, spent time promoting the Make Time 2 Play campaign.
“Toys are catalysts for play, and as an industry we work hard to produce high quality and engaging toys that enhance children’s play experiences,” he said. “As an association we want to make sure that the importance of play in all its forms is recognised throughout the year, which is why we setup the Make Time 2 Play campaign more than 15 years ago to highlight the huge benefits of play for children and their families.
“The campaign provides hundreds of free play ideas for families to encourage more play in the increasingly busy lives of children,” he added. “Play can sometimes be overlooked, and that’s a great pity. It’s critical that play is protected as it often can be a part of the solution to many other serious problems we face in society. Play brings people together, it keeps people fit, it does a lot. Through Make Time 2 Play, we hope to remind you of some of those benefits that you might forget.
“This week in support of the publishing a video to remind everyone that everyday should be a play day, and we should all make time to play.”
