Aldi launches new summer wooden toy range

The new role play collection includes bbqs, store fronts and picnic baskets, and launches in stores 17 May

Aldi is set to launch a new wooden role play toy range in May, and is marketing the release with a nationwide campaign to find its first Wooden Toy Tester.

The supermarket is calling on children across the country to apply, explaining why they should be chosen and what make-believe dish they would cook up in their very own toy kitchen.

The discount grocer’s previous wooden toy launches have proved so popular that it set a two-per-shopper limit on purchases. This collection hits Aldi shelves 17 May.

Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: “The nation’s love for our Wooden Toy range is undeniable and our littlest shoppers are our most important critics! We’re excited to appoint our first ever Wooden Toy Tester, to capture their experience and find out what makes the perfect playtime set-up, guaranteeing lots of giggles and fun.”

The summer wooden toy range includes the new Wooden Outdoor BBQ, complete with the essential utensils and grill hood. It pairs perfectly with the new BBQ food accessories featuring four kits: a Hot Dog Box, Meat Box, BBQ Burger Box and Veggie Box, all complete with wooden toy food and condiments

The Mud Kitchen, including bread oven, washing up rack, double burner stove top and utensil holders returns, along with the Mud Kitchen Accessories, with four sets of stainless steel or wooden pots and bowls, baking set and veggie prep set

The Wooden Shop and The Shop Front & Role Play Set Accessories will also be available in six store front role play themes: Coffee Shop, Florist, Village Shop, Post Office, Theatre and Vet. The Messy Play Picnic Bench is fully equipping the garden with everything needed for a perfect day’s play out in the sun.
